When someone wants me to talk with their pet, I ask that they send a recent photo to me. It’s always nice if that photo has been taken within the last 6 months. And that brings up the question I am often asked…..what do I see when I see what I see? In other words, what does a picture of an animal tell me and why do I need it? First I need your pet’s picture to see what she looks like. This allows me to picture her in my mind. But I also need your pet’s photo in order to “feel” her in my heart. When I look at a pet’s photo, I can generally sense her spirit and her personality. Sometimes I’ll get even more information…like… this pet is ill or… this pet really wants to talk to me… or even….this pet does not want to live any more. It can be a fleeting thought that strikes me or a very profound feeling that envelopes my mind and my heart telling me there is something really important going on with this animal. I’ve looked at a pet’s photo and known immediately that this animal is extremely angry about something. And when I do call for the animal in order to talk, I am met with an irate, very animated and intense pet who talks and talks about what is making her so mad. The picture of this pet has definitely matched the feeling I received from it……and later, so did the conversation.
Occasionally I receive a picture of a pet that causes me to stop everything else I’m doing. I’m suddenly sitting in a chair with the picture in hand or on my computer screen. My eyes are glued to the image in front of me. This animal’s spirit is so strong and the energy coming from it is so intense that to look away just doesn’t seem right. Sometimes I hear words coming from the image, sometimes I don’t. But the words are not what’s important at that moment……it’s the image that has me mesmerized……..the powerful, affectionate and loving image. Some animals are filled with a spirit that touches and warms everyone they meet. When I see these photos, I feel very blessed to be a small part of these wonderful animals’ lives.
I must also mention the photos I receive that are a mystery to me until I have a conversation with the animal. Not every animal wears their heart on their sleeve……. not every animal has parts of their personality written all over their face. If I want to know what lies beneath the surface, I have to get under that fur by having a conversation with them. I may find an amazing spirit that’s every bit as powerful and loving as the pet whose photo caused me to find my chair. That’s what makes communicating with animals so interesting and SO MUCH FUN!
The next time you take a picture of your pet, sit down and take a really good look at it……then ask yourself these questions. What do I see? What do I feel? What is my pet trying to tell me? And, the most important question of all…..what about this picture touches my heart and soul……and makes me find a chair?
